The first jeans from Levi’s were sold during the California gold rush. However, Levi’s jeans didn’t become a household name until the company officially began in 1873. It was around the 1920′s that the sales in jeans started to increase. ‘Cowboys, lumberjacks, and railroad workers’ were of the first to being using these famous jeans. They found that in their professions, these comfortable pants were durable.
Levi’s was the first jean company to use the button fly system for closing the pants. People began an instant attraction for their jeans because of the comfort and versatility of the pants. They could be worn to church with a nice shirt and tie, or used to work in the farm all day long. In today’s society jeans are the most important thing in a wardrobe. Levi’s has several styles such as low rise, boot cut, acid washed, stone washed, corduroy and many other brands. Whether one is spending a day longing at home, or going out on the town, jeans are as American as apple pie.
